JIGJAW: SINGING FOR DANCING WORKSHOP

JigJaw (Janet Russell, Rosie Davis, Kerry
Fletcher, Frances Watt) combine the percussion & passion of dance
traditions with vocal harmonies in a tight, scintillating quartet of singing
& dancing talents. They use step-dancing, social dancing, mouth music,
nonsense rhyme & songs from Britain & beyond for a highly distinctive
performance, rekindling the links between dancers & singers, songs and
dances, performers and audiences.
They say: 'We'll be singing & dancing in each part of the workshop.
Everyone will be encouraged to sing & dance. There will be an option for
step dancers to learn a routine. Concentrate on singing or dancing, or have a
go at everything - enjoy!'

is an emerging folk artist who has been making headlines. His music combines
traditional folk, with an inevitable focus on the music of Scotland, as well
as his own self-penned songs that are receiving critical acclaim in their own

Sea, ships and sailors session at the Bell & Jorrocks starting at 2pm
including sea shanties, other sea songs, songs about sailors, fishermen’s
songs and the famous Sailor’s Hornpipe (free entry).
Learn old fashioned dances (eg, Veleta, St Bernard’s Waltz, Heel & Toe
Polka) from 4.30 to 6.00pm at the Bell & Jorrocks function room, entry
Saturday evening dance, from 8pm
An atmospheric old fashioned dance in the Bell & Jorrocks function room
led by Rosie Davis (she’ll explain what to do!). Music from the Horsmonden
Traditional Music Class and friends, with songs from our guests, and party
games for all ages. Black tie (in a light-hearted sense) is encouraged but
not essential. Kids welcome. Entry £7/£4.
