Subject: Equator Festival- The Classic Buskers in Ashford: Friday April 27th

Press Release

The Classic Busker's Musical Olympics

27th April 2012 at St. Mary's Church, Ashford

Equator's Classical Music Series continues this April with a one off performance from musical ?athletes' Michael Copley and Ian Moore, the Classic Buskers.

The Classic Buskers (formerly The Cambridge Buskers) have a gift for communicating their passion for classical music in two of the best ways possible - virtuosity and laughter. The audience comes away from a Buskers' concert on a high, having been both entertained and educated. That's the Classic Buskers' secret - an ability to communicate their love of music, which is after all what performance is all about.

Michael Copley plays more than 40 woodwind instruments at record-breaking speeds, ranging from recorders, flutes, panpipes, crumhorns and ocarinas to a Pico Pipe and a rubber trout, accompanied by Ian Moore on a small but perfectly formed accordion. Their virtuosity on these instruments is staggering. It's a great show for those who know a little about classical music (listen out for an endless stream of musical jokes) or indeed for anybody who simply appreciates wit and wants to be entertained. Works from famous London composers from Henry VIII to Elgar and musical tourists from Haydn to Tchaikovsky will get the full Buskers' treatment!

?The Classic Buskers manage, seemingly effortlessly, to combine the absurdity of British humour with the highest musical standards, a huge compliment indeed.'
Pforzheimer Zeitung

The concert on 27th April is part of Equator's brand new Classical Music Series, curated by the late Classical music critic Robert Maycock and Equator's Artistic Director, Priti Paintal, which saw the Australian guitarist Craig Ogden also playing at St Mary's earlier this year.
