Reach for
the Bunting
12 May: In a
brand new venue - St Mark's Church Hall in Dalston - we've got
something really special planned. Have you ever danced to Ethiopian
desert party tunes? The ancient 6-stringed krar harp is associated
with the azmari minstrel tradition; in the hands of the Krar Collective
and with a bit of pedal magic, it becomes a gritty ancient rock
guitar. Ticket ?9 advance or 5 for ?40 (?12 on the door).

Eska
& Keston Cobblers Club
30 May: Eska's music
wears its experimental tendencies on its sleeve, and proudly so. She
uses her vocals in intriguing ways, invention and expression always
paramount. The Keston
Cobblers Club embrace contemporary styles and
traditional melodies. Turn the speaker up loud, grab your finest pair
of boots and tap along until the soles wear thin?

Bella
Hardy, O'Hooley & Tidow
11 June: Two
amazing acts in one night - Bella Hardy, three times nominated for
BBC Folk Awards and one of the finest young folk acts around, sings
unaccompanied ballads or entwines her hypnotic voice with her own
fiddle accompaniment to breathtaking effect; she shares the bill
with chamber-folk duo O'Hooley & Tidow, whose beautifully
unusual songs touch on dark folk tales, ecology, cross-dressing
historical figures and more.
