Prita

Next up at Mrs Yarringtons at Crowhurst Park as part of her latest UK tour is Aussie songstress Prita. With a unique sound described as ?Hip-So-Fo?, it combines her love of Hip-Hop, Soul and Folk with the use of a live loop pedal and effortlessly layers of funky urban harmonies, acoustic fingerpicking guitar and beat boxing. These contrasting dynamics add to her live solo show, which audiences have described as ?captivating, inspiring and uplifting?. Prita?s songwriting is both storytelling and Jazzy and with her big bluesy soulful voice and a natural ear for harmony; she has been likened to KT Tunstall and Norah Jones.

Her grassroots fan base is growing steadily due to the past 4 years of independent touring, and festivals in both in Australia and Europe, with stints in the USA, and Thailand. Prita has also released 4 CD?s the latest being ?New Life?. With Festival appearances all over the globe and her recent tour of the UK and Europe covering 5 countries and over 30 concerts has confirmed her popularity amongst audiences, Prita is one to watch, a star on the rise?

Subject: Horsmonden trad music class Wednesday 25th April

The next
Horsmonden traditional music class is on Wednesday the 25th April. The tunes - Paddy Carrey and Jenny Lind - are on the website now.

We'll likely play a couple of tunes from earlier classes to warm up, but the real work of the evening will be to concentrate on the new tunes, which we'll play steadily and slowly, only moving on to the next one when it seems right to do so. We'll also spend some time thinking about how we can tackle the tunes and make them lively, danceable and interesting.

Towards the end of the evening, we may retire to the bar for some rather more informal sessioning!

The trad music class meets at the Gun & Spitroast pub at Horsmonden at 8pm on the second and fourth Wednesdays of the month. The classes are free and all are welcome.

Download pdfs, abcs and access YouTubes of the tunes we're working with at:

While you're reading - please don't forget the Jim Causley night at the White Lion, in Tenterden?s High Street on the 27th April 2011, starting at 8pm. It's a 'Jim and friends' evening, and the friends on this occasion are Rosie, Julie and myself.

Sunday 29th
will be the night of the last regular Frittenden session of the year, and we'll have Fritt favourite Nigel Hobbins guesting at the Bell & Jorrocks - so don't miss that night's fun!
