Le Q Records latest masterpiece and commemorative Triple CD -

Le QuecumBar International Gypsy Swing Guitar Festival 2010 LEQ0108

celebrating to 100th Birthday of Django Reinhardt

200 minutes of sublime live highlights - bonus tracks interviews with Stochelo Rosenberg, Tcha Limberger and Biel Ballester.

A triple cd commemorative pack of recordings set over the nine night sold out festival (a first for London), that includes star soloists appearing on stage together for the first time; all passionate representatives of the essence of Gypsy swing.  This pack captures the energy and passion of 34 exceptional musicians; global Gypsy players from 6 countries who united and gathered in London for one reason only, to play homage to the Gypsy guitar genius Django Reinhardt and to honour his 100th birthday.

Press review by Dave Gelly The Observer, Sunday 11 July 2010

"?This triple-CD set contains some truly astounding music. The sheer virtuosity often beggars belief, but it's the inventiveness and creative abandon in the playing of such masters of the genre as Lollo Meier and S?bastien Giniaux, and especially the multi-talented Tcha Limberger, that make these performances truly remarkable. I can't say "unbelievable", because I was there when some were recorded - at London's Le QuecumBar, back in January, at the festival to celebrate Django Reinhardt's centenary - and this was exactly how it came across at the time."

SONGLINES - SIMON BROUGHTON "This was music straight from the soul, played in the perfect setting ? one of London's hidden gems"

JAZZ PREVIEW.COM "This music has deep roots, but in its soulfulness, in the versatility of its imagination and in its sheer exuberance, the ability of Gypsy swing/jazz to charm and seduce audiences remains as powerful as ever. Prepare to be enchanted! "

LONDONNET.CO.UK "the biggest collection of Gypsy Swing talent in the UK ever."

Howard was the guitarist and guitar coach to Sean Penn (Academy Award nominee for his role as a legendary 30s jazz guitarist) who starred in Woody Allen's movie "Sweet and Lowdown", The London Observer has this to say about Alden's solo CD, My Shining Hour ; "If there is such a thing as a complete jazz guitarist, then Alden is it. Only a real virtuoso can sustain a whole CD of solo guitar with the aplomb he displays here."

JACOPO MARTINI QUARTET FEAT. ANDY AITCHISON ON VIOLIN

When in 2005 his first album I Nuvoli was published, Jacopo Martini had been immediately compared to Gyspy Jazz giants such as Angelo Debarre or Andreas Oberg. His skill and creativity joined to his Mediterranean native musical colours made him one of the most interesting players on the scene. Andy Aitchison joined Jacopo Martini Quartet in 2008 for a tour through Toscana together with Dutch Gypsy master Lollo Meier. Interplay was explosive on Django's classic tunes! And it will be again at Le QuecumBar.

MONSIEUR JACQUET

Parisian Chanson Swing

Formed 10 years ago, learning the music inherited from Django in Paris' jazz clubs. A new sound and a new generation of Gypsy jazz players, through recording sessions with legends such as Tchavolo Schmitt or Florin Niculescu.

When Lou Tavano on vocals joined the band 4 years ago, they smashed through boundaries of styles, giving birth to a refreshing hybrid; Chanson Swing. Whether in a Caf? Concert or on the big stages of festivals like Glastonbury or Montreux they always share a unique moment with the audience, intimate and festive.  Chanson in French, Jazz in English, instrumental tunes... it doesn't really matter, it's all about the universal language of music and you won't need any subtitles to find your way through this musical experience!

Clarinetist extraordinaire

Evan Christopher DJANGO A LA CREOLE Quartet

New Orleans resident Evan Christopher has been called "not only the greatest jazz clarinetist alive, but one of the greatest of all time" by no less of an authority than Ahmet Ertegun, the founding chairman of Atlantic Records and, historically, a major figure in the recording industry.  Django ? la Cr?ole; his first album, the idea was simple enough, Spice up the Hot Club texture pioneered by Django Reinhardt by emphasizing hallmarks of New Orleans Jazz including blues, rhythms of the monde Cr?ole, and collective improvisation. The quartet then released "Finesse" in 2010 voted top Jazz album of 2010 by Clive Davis.

"The epithet "flawless technique" does not even begin to describe Evan Christopher's manner of playing" All About Jazz USA

Evan Christopher's style is steeped in the tradition exemplified by early jazz masters such as Sidney Bechet, Jimmie Noon and Barney Bigard.  Together with Le QuecumBar regular guitarists David Blenkhorn & Dave Kelbie, and Paris based bassist Sebastien Girardot, the quartet celebrates the music of the legendary Django Reinhardt and enlivens swing-era classics with fresh interpretations and virtuosic improvisations. This concert will be a fine blend of Hot Club and Creole just what it says on the box! not to be missed.  A great oportunoty to see Evan up close and live in an intimate setting such as Le QuecumBar.

We advise booking as early as possible.
