Turn the speaker up loud, grab your finest pair of boots and tap along until the soles wear thin?

Sam Lee: album launch

The forthcoming album from the Nest's founder Sam Lee, a work several years in conception which brings together a multitude of experiences and influences for a musician who has cut an unique course in his artistic development. This 8-track release with mixes done by the legendary John Wood (of Nick Drake fame) comprises material gleaned from years of research and exploration into the forgotten songs and sounds of these Isles. ?Ground Of Its Own' brings together songs directly learned from English Gypsy and Irish and Scottish Traveller communities until now unheard in the wider music world

Mary Hampton Cotillion

8 June: Uncut - "?a bijou national treasure."
Guardian - "Hampton is a rare talent?refreshingly original."
Times - "?very English, very unusual, and proof that if you want to make art, you just have to ignore debilitating forces and get on with it".
Mary has brought together an amazing live band of string and horn players known as the Mary Hampton Cotillion.

Nest Hour on Resonance 104.4 FM

The Nest Collective Hour on Resonance FM, presented by Sam Lee, will delve into the spectrum of music existing ?right now' in this country and beyond to tackle the widest realm of folk and traditional music. The show will platform the finest music that breaks the mould and challenges the established direction this folk resurgence is taking, through live interviews and performances, field recordings, location interviews and magazine features. The Show is now in its 3rd month and all past shows can be heard here

Bella Hardy, O'Hooley & Tidow

11 June: Two amazing acts in one night - Bella Hardy, three times nominated for BBC Folk Awards and one of the finest young folk acts around, sings unaccompanied ballads or entwines her hypnotic voice with her own fiddle accompaniment to breathtaking effect; she shares the bill with chamber-folk duo O'Hooley & Tidow, whose beautifully unusual songs touch on dark folk tales, ecology, cross-dressing historical figures and more.
