Le QuecumBar International Gypsy Swing Guitar Festival 2010 LEQ0108

celebrating to 100th Birthday of Django Reinhardt

200 minutes of sublime live highlights - bonus tracks interviews with Stochelo Rosenberg, Tcha Limberger and Biel Ballester.

A triple cd commemorative pack of recordings set over the nine night sold out festival (a first for London), that includes star soloists appearing on stage together for the first time; all passionate representatives of the essence of Gypsy swing.  This pack captures the energy and passion of 34 exceptional musicians; global Gypsy players from 6 countries who united and gathered in London for one reason only, to play homage to the Gypsy guitar genius Django Reinhardt and to honour his 100th birthday.

Press review by Dave Gelly The Observer

, Sunday 11 July 2010

"?This triple-CD set contains some truly astounding music. The sheer virtuosity often beggars belief, but it's the inventiveness and creative abandon in the playing of such masters of the genre as Lollo Meier and S?bastien Giniaux, and especially the multi-talented Tcha Limberger, that make these performances truly remarkable. I can't say "unbelievable", because I was there when some were recorded - at London's Le QuecumBar, back in January, at the festival to celebrate Django Reinhardt's centenary - and this was exactly how it came across at the time."

SONGLINES - SIMON BROUGHTON "This was music straight from the soul, played in the perfect setting ? one of London's hidden gems"

JAZZ PREVIEW.COM "This music has deep roots, but in its soulfulness, in the versatility of its imagination and in its sheer exuberance, the ability of Gypsy swing/jazz to charm and seduce audiences remains as powerful as ever. Prepare to be enchanted! "

LONDONNET.CO.UK "the biggest collection of Gypsy Swing talent in the UK ever."

"Hot Swinging Gypsy Swing Jazz!"

HAMER & ISAACS

It's a long, long while from May to December, but before the days dwindle down, and the autumn leaves of red and gold start to fall, why not dine, dance and unravel the Mystery Pacific to some lusciously louche Manouche. Imagine for a moment that le boeuf has found its way down off le Toit and across La Manche to graze the Battersea grasses: combine an emancipated and updated HCQ style rhythm section with locomotive lead and voluptuous violin, then anoint it with the delicious de-lovely vocals of Miss Rosie Corlett (think Eartha meets Ella in Montmartre). The Rockies may tumble, Gibraltar may crumble, but Hamer & Isaacs Gypsy Swing Band are here to stay!

The Bevin Boys are a 1940s style swing band whose authentic period sound (and look!) is gaining them an excellent reputation with dancers and listeners like.

Nat King Cole, Louis Prima, Louis Jordan and Billy Eckstine tunes are given a fresh treatment by this talented vout-o-reenee trio! Expect some Great American songbook and some lesser know tunes in a sing-along, relaxed swingin' style.

The band is due to appear at Twinwood and various WWII, Lindyhop and Jazz festivals throughout the year, so why not catch the boys while they're in town? Visit www.bevinboys.com see what the buzz is about!
