Jerry Donahue, the ?guitarists' guitarist? is nothing short of a
guitar legend. Known as ?the string bending king of the planet? (Danny
Gatton, Guitar Player Magazine), he has graced the records of many well known
artists such as Fotheringay, Fairport Convention, Bonnie Raitt, George
Harrison, Roy Orbison, The Yardbirds, The Proclaimers, Joan Armatrading, Chris
Rea, The Hellecasters and The Beach Boys, to name but a few. In a high profile
career spanning over 4 decades, Jerry has combined the Celtic folk music of his
adopted home in the UK with his American rock, blues and country roots to
produce his own acclaimed, unique and inimitable style. A perennial Guitar
Player magazine Reader's Poll winner, Jerry epitomises the consummate
guitarist?s guitarist. Guitar Shop magazine described Jerry as a "freak of
nature" whose string-bending technique could be accomplished only by a
"four-armed pedal steeler!?
Doug Morter is an accomplished songwriter & acoustic
fingerpicker, who started playing professionally in 1969 with Hunter Muskett,
recording three albums and two singles and supporting David Bowie and Ralph
McTell. Between 1974-1978 he and Richard Digance toured as a duo supporting
Jethro Tull, Joan Amatrading, Elkie Brooks, Richard Thompsom, Supertramp,
Sutherland Brothers, Kinks and Steeleye Span. Other major collaborations
include the Maddy Prior Band, the Michael Chapman Band, the The Albion Band,
and culminating in a season at the National Theatre as part of Lark Rise and
Candleford. Doug joined Magna Carta in 1980 recording three albums and touring
worldwide. He has performed in a duo with Jerry Donahue for some years forming
the basis for The Backroom Boys and from 2007, Doug has been concentrating on
"Gathering, Legends Of Folk Rock" with Clive Bunker (Jethro Tull),
Ray Jackson (Lindisfarne), Rick Kemp (Steeleye Span), and Jerry and Kristina
Donahue.
