Hi all!

THE BIG SESSION

Wasn't it fantastic? We're still buzzing. There was some fairly serious rain, but the site held up well - a bit squelchy, but no knee-deep mud - and the atmosphere was just terrific. Intense, even, on the Sunday night, when we finished with a glorious sunset.

We have been swamped with enthusiastic messages from festival-goers and musicians, and the consensus is: we must do it again. You can see how great the site will be with even normal English summer weather! As it was, we had a total blast.

A particularly big thank you to the site crew, who toiled day and night to set everything up, keep it running and dismantle it afterwards, about 10 days in all - way beyond the call of duty. Thanks also to everyone who came, everyone who played and sang, everyone who did all the other things that make festivals memorable, from good food and ale to a pretty efficient shuttle bus service.

And it was a pleasure to find so many visitors from outside UK. Without even trying, we ran into people from the US, Ireland, Germany, Denmark, Norway, Austria??the more the merrier, and long may that continue.

The next Big Session will be 14-16 June 2013. We'll let you know when tickets go on sale. First we need a pause, then a grand meeting to analyse all the feedback you kindly gave.

Meanwhile please spread the word. Tell your friends they missed the start of something remarkable.

See you next year at Catton Hall.

JJ WALKS AGAIN

Immediately before the Village Pump Festival show on 22nd July, John walks off stage and out into some of the most glorious landscape in England. With a rucksack, fellow musicians, fans and friends he will follow the ancient Ridgeway from Oxfordshire into Wiltshire, taking in White Horses, stone circles and monuments to a different age, stopping each evening to round off the day with a gig and ending in Westbury.

John will be debuting new songs especially written for the occasion and will be supported by his band The Reluctant Ramblers: Dil Davies, Al Scott, and Tim Cotterell. Special guests will join him on different nights: Rowan Godel, who sang on Rising Road and is the beautiful second voice on Oysterband's Street of Dreams; Benji Kirkpatrick from Bellowhead; and Boff from Chumbawamba. Come along for the gigs, a walk, a pint....or all three. Full details here:  www.jj-rr.org

More soon...
