Although the normal Sunday club nights have finished for the summer there is still plenty going on.

On Saturday 28th July is a Summer Special  at The Olde Rose and Crown -

Pete Morton presents The Millers Tale featuring the songs of Bob Dylan

It's The Miller's Tale from the Canterbury Tales, told as never before!

A musical comedy of Chaucer's '14th Century Carry-on', starring Pete Morton as the evergreen song and dance man, the Miller.

Yes, the very Miller that rode out of London on the pilgrimage to Canterbury...

These days he recites his poem, dances around his broomstick, sings the songs of Bob Dylan and wears an interesting collection of hats. It's definitely six centuries of separation. While keeping close to the original poetry, the Miller is almost fluent in modern English and understandably bonkers!

Show starts 8pm. Admission ?10. Tickets are available online, go to  the club website for details

This is not a normal folk club night but a special, and very entertaining, onw man show by our friend Pete.

The Nags Head, Orford Road E17 9LP is where we have our monthly music sessions and this Saturday 21 July the Delarre brothers of our favourite band Mawkin will be bringing a Mawkin Scratch Band to the pub for their regular summer evening of dancing in the Garden.

And finally we'd like to bring your attention to a programme on BBC Radio 2 next Tuesday 24 July at 10pm called A Musical Map of the Olympic Boroughs wih Paloma Faith. The producers came to the club a few months back and recorded some stuff but how much, if any, has been used we don't know. We will certainly be listening and will let you know as it's bound to be on the i-player.

That's all for now we resume normal Sunday service in September with Jim Causley, Dana and Susan Robinson, Roy Bailey, Cosmotheka and The Long Hill Ramblers seeing us through the first month.
