If you haven't already spent your holiday allowance, here's a message from
Kate Lissauer:

This is a quick announcement for anyone interested in our residential old-time
music workshops in Andalucia, Sept 29-Oct 6.

We can fit a couple of people more into our group, and would love to be joined
by any interested singers, banjo, or guitarist, and particularly by anyone
interested in old-time fiddle, because we have the splendid opportunity this
year of classes from the wonderful and hugely experienced fiddler John Grimm.
John will be able to join us, on short notice, as he is travelling with
Beverly Smith.

Of course, there is also the opportunity to study with the legendary Alice
Gerrard, who will teach individual and part singing, and generously impart a
portion of her vast knowledge and experience of the old-time country song
tradition, as well as teaching banjo.

Space is very limited, but we would love to have you with us, so squeeze in if
you can.

Didmarton news from John Wirtz:

The band line up for Didmarton 2012 is now posted on the website and we have
added a provisional programme in the concerts section. Please note this is
provisional and subject to change.

The festival take place 30th August to 2nd September, 2012 at Kemble Airfield
near Cirencester, Gloucestershire. All information on the website
 www.didmarton-bluegrass.co.uk

As usual, there is a fantastic line up again and some new faces coming along
to play the festival for the first time.

Besides the normal Bluegrass and Old Time programme, there a great choice of
music coming our way at the end of August. Forty Five bands and still one or
two slots to fill in!

So it going to be great even if it rains (is that a disclaimer of sorts?).
Don?t worry, bring a brolly with you!

Picking Weekend - 14 to 16 September 2012

The Hanbury Old Time Music & Dance weekend will be at the Cock Inn, a small
country pub with a field. It is in a village called Hanbury near Burton on
Trent which is in lovely countryside and fairly close to Derbyshire and the
Peak District.

The pub food is excellent and the landlord is prepared to do breakfast, lunch,
dinner and barbecues if we wish.

We have the use of a large function room in which to play and the pub has a
beer garden with children?s area and French boules and outdoor bowling.
