- Storyteller and
singer Adrian O at the Frittenden session 30th March
Our thanks
to those who came to both the tunes session on Sunday and
the song workshop on Tuesday - they were well attended, great
fun for all of us, and exactly what we hoped for when we set out
on this journey.
The next twice monthly tunes workshop at the Gun and Spitroast,
Horsmonden (TN12 8HT) is on the 12th February (the second Wednesday,
as usual). The aim now (and for the following workshop) is to
practice tunes for out big night (and day) on the 29th of March -
there is a draft tunes list to practice
on the workshops page of the website.
A YouTube demonstration of The Redwing is now online, as promised.
Regulars will know that the dance on the 29th is a popular and fun
evening for young and old, and that it might well be worth buying or
reserving tickets in advance, particularly if you'd like to bring
family members - but if you don't manage to do this, please get in
touch!
On this occasion the dance in the evening to the music of the tunes
workshop will feature Fee Lock
calling, together with the singing and playing of the mighty Matt Quinn.
There's also be an afternoon event from 2pm featuring songs from the
excellent talents of Peter
Collins (Beacon Folk Club),
John
Morgan, Nigel
Hobbins (of Whitstable Folk Club) and Annie Dearman and Steve
Harrison during the afternoon. I know of several
local singers who are planning to come to this event and I'm looking
forward to a great day.
We'll no doubt chip in with a few songs ourselves. Song
workshoppers... we'd really like to include items from members
of the song workshop! Please email me at gmatkin_at_gmail_dot_com if you want to
discuss this for any reason.
Information about the 29th March, a poster (please print it out and
put in any suitable noticeboard or window) can be found on the Singdanceandplay website.
Finally, the last Sunday of the month session at 8pm on the 30th
March features the excellent storyteller and singer Adrian O - it's
his first visit and he's our first storyteller so don't miss
him!
PS - Please
pass this on to anyone you know who would be interested and who may
not be on our mailing list.
