Applause
Outdoors 2014
The
summer season has began, but in the absence of a six-week
heatwave, console yourself by heading out off the beaten track to see
free Applause Outdoors performances at village fetes and festivals
throughout Kent and Sussex...
There is plenty to do on Saturday 21st June with Applause
Outdoors performances popping up at six different events including Newnham Village Fete at which you can
see The Apple Cart from award-winning
company, fanSHEN. It's lucky dip meets Crystal Maze: pick one of
the apples to choose yourself a short interactive experience - will it
be something old, something new, something made-up or something true?
If you enjoy a good game, Robertsbridge is throwing a picnic with
a Generation Games theme on Sunday 22nd June. Applause Outdoors is
sending along The Crimplene Millionaire board game
expertly hosted by light entertainers Derek and Beverley Daniels
who encourage audiences to compete in teams to win a (fake) cash prize!
On Saturday 27th July head to Lancing, West Sussex and visit the
youth-led Dromos Festival. Perfect for young
families, this event includes music, comedy and theatre - Applause
Outdoors performance EveryONE is Looking for SomeONE from
Accidental Collective will be there - see if you can spot the ONE or
the other ONE.
Have a wander around Rolvenden village on Bank Holiday Monday
25th August and take in the St Mary the Virgin Flower Festival and Art Show.
Applause Outdoors performance, Imaginarium from acclaimed company
Periplum will also be in situ. This magical installation
welcomes you into Wonderland where an iPad becomes your magnifying
lens, zooming in on plants and flowers to shrink you to the eye view of
a dormouse stirring up a storm in a teapot.
With all this and much more on your
doorstep there is no excuse not to go out and enjoy some fantastic,
interactive live performance this summer!
Best wishes,
The Applause Team

Coming
Up...
You can see the next Applause Outdoors
performance at Aylesford's Big Lunch on Sunday 1st
June. Amy Pennington will be bringing The Portrait Machine, a mysterious
box which appears in the midst of an event with a sign inviting people
to pose for a picture. Hidden inside the machine, Amy interacts with
the audience and as people queue, wait and smile - she draws their
portrait.
