Friday 27 June at 7.30pm, Colyer-Fergusson Music Building This is a reminder about the coming concert by the distinguished
pianist, Malcolm Binns, which will take place in the Colyer-Fergusson Music
Building on Friday 27
June at 7.30pm. The concert is being organised by the Former Staff Association
in aid of the University of Kent Music Fund, and will include works by
Beethoven, Chopin, Schumann and John McCabe. Malcolm Binns, who lives in Kent, made his debut at the Wigmore
Hall and shortly afterwards appeared at the Proms, where he went on to
perform regularly and at three Last Nights. He gave the British premiere of
Prokoviev's fourth piano concerto at the Festival Hall, and has played under
many of the best-known conductors, including Adrian Boult, Colin Davis,
Malcolm Sergeant, John Pritchard, Mark Elder and Simon Rattle. His recording career spans four decades and includes the
complete Beethoven sonatas, and concertos by Rawsthorne, Sterndale, Bennett,
Balakakirev and Rimsky Korsakov. His most recent recording in 2009, which was
greeted with high critical acclaim, was of sonatas by Box, John Ireland and
Frank Bridge. Tickets for the concert cost
