The
Show of Hands Annual Summer Family Concert is tomorrow,
Saturday
5th July, at Abbotsbury Sub Tropical Gardens. Doors open at 1.30pm,
music starts at 3pm and the event runs until 9.30pm. With Phil
away, Steve will be hosting the event and playing in a special line
up for the finale.

Grow Your Own Gig is still in full swing, with the
format and songs going down really well with audiences across the
UK.
The next couple of months are also busy for Steve, starting
with this Saturday at Abbotsbury, and followed by some great
festival appearances through the summer.

festival performance to the stage?

Preston, Phillip Henry & Hannah Martin as well as Martin
Simpson & Andy Cutting for sessions, informal performances and
rehearsals all set in the beautiful Herstmonceux Castle. Then watch
the full performance at Hailsham Pavilion. Accommodation, meals and
reserved seats for the Wake the Union Rehearsal Concert at Hailsham
Pavilion are all included in the price - from ?295 per
person.

Phil
Beer & Folk Boat
Phil
has taken some time out this summer to run Folk Boat - a series of music and sailing trips on Tectona -
these are open to absolutely anyone who fancies a combination
of sailing a traditional vessel and being involved in music
sessions. All comers are welcome - you don't need to be able to
sail or play music to enjoy the trip!
Tectona is a 1928 Gaff Rigged Ketch with 12 Berths available. The
format of the cruises is to sail west country waters visiting ports
such as Falmouth, Salcombe, Dartmouth and Weymouth, together with
the ever present possibility of going to France (always entirely
weather dependent).
The 5 day trip costs ?700 per head unless otherwise stated, and the
following places are still available.

Miranda
Sykes & Rex Preston
Miranda and Rex have a busy Summer this year
attending many festivals across the country, including Larmer Tree
in Salisbury, Village Pump in Wiltshire, Reepham in Norfolk, Fylde
in Lancashire, and then appearing with Steve Knightley and Friends
at Shrewsbury Festival. They will also be performing gigs in
Hebden Bridge, Shipton Gorge and Sheriff Hutton as well as the home
of folk, Cecil Sharpe House.
On tour, Miranda and Rex are showcasing their 2013 album
?Sing A Full Song' - a slick mix of traditional songs, covers
and two songs written for them by Boo Hewerdine. As well as
Hewerdine they feature material from singer songwriters Phil King,
Paul Melsers, Sara Watkins, Oliver Knight, Staffordshire's Awards
Horizon winner Bill (Belinda) Jones and John Kirkpatrick.
