Subject: Last call for Thursday Knightley
Hiya
This is just a quickie - partly due to the fact that my hard drive crashed and
burned today - I think it was trying to tell me something - like it needed a
holiday. If it could just have waited three more days! So no fancy layout
today - just words - but hopefully worth reading.
DOUGIE MACLEAN
Hello and welcome to those who joined up at the wonderful Dougie MacLean
concert last Thursday, thanks so much for coming along. Dougie did it again -
he has such a wonderful way of connecting with the audience and bringing those
beautiful songs to life.
STEVE KNIGHTLEY
We are just two days away from our last Folk in the Barn gig of the Summer!
Time for a much needed break and catch up and a chance to fix the computer!
We're back where we started. Steve Knightley - along with Phil Beer - was our
first ever venture into gig promoting in 2003, and he's back for his regular
annual solo visit to Canterbury at St Gregory's Centre for Music, Christ
Church University, Canterbury this coming Thursday, 17th July. Sadly - due to
lack of venue availability there will be no Canterbury Show of Hands concert
this year so it's your last chance to see Steve Knightley in Canterbury for
maybe a year or more. There are only 28 tickets left for Thursday, so if you
were thinking of coming on the night - it might be too late. They are as
usual available to book online at wegottickets £16 plus Wegots 10% fee, (link
from the website) or drop me a line to reserve and pay on the door £18
LIFT REQUIRED
One of our audience - Anne Lever was intending to come but her car has broken
down and won't be fixed by Thursday. If anyone can offer Anne and her partner
a lift from Maidstone (Tovil) I know she would be very appreciative. If you
can, drop me a line or text and I'll give you her number to arrange it.
PHIL JUDGE
Phil appeared in my life quite a few years ago, when he came to one of the
Fairport Convention gigs at the Cathedral Lodge. He loved what we do, but
hated my website at the time - and I can't blame him - it was rubbish (I'd
made it myself ha ha). Anyway he hated it so much he offered to build me a
new one - and true to his word he did and that's what you see now when you
check out

I couldn't do this without that website and
so I'm eternally grateful. Now Phil has completed an incredible challenge.
Just have a quick look at this
www.rideagainstms
Phil's wife Ali suffers
from MS and Phil and his son undertook a 720k cycle ride, coast to coast
through the Pyrenees over 18 mountains, climbing 11000m to raise money for
research into this horrible disease and to assist with funding the local
support branch which is of great importance to many people including Ali and
the whole family. I know there are so many requests for donations these days,
and many people giving up their time and making huge efforts and we can't
support them all, but if you do have some spare dosh - please consider
contributing to this one. He hasn't asked me to mention it.
Looking forward to seeing you on Thursday, but after that I'll send one more
email with a re-cap of the year so far, and a summary of what we've got
coming up in the Autumn - once the pc is back and working properly.
See you soon
