DARTFORD FOLK CLUB UPDATE

Next Tuesday (29th) will be the last chance to visit the club before our summer break. It should be a great evening in the company of Brooks Williams (http://www.brookswilliams.com/).

Dartford Folk Club meets on Tuesday from 8.30 to 11.00 p.m. at Dartford Working Men?s Club, 40 Essex Road, Dartford DA1 2AU.

AUGUST

The club is closed for regular guest nights during August but, as usual, there will be SINGAROUNDS on Tuesdays throughout the month, generally starting 8.15-8.30. Please drop in and join in, or sing along to the choruses, or just have a drink and listen.

Just as many of us have done on previous years, you could always meet up for a meal with friends on any Tuesday and, afterwards, walk round to the Working Men?s Club for the singaround. Twins and the Flying Boat (Wetherspoons) have always been favourites with Folk Club members.

As usual, there is an excellent programme at BROADSTAIRS FOLK WEEK (8th to 15th August). It includes headline names such as Seth Lakeman, Dick Gaughan and Bella Hardy but also features many Dartford favourites: Tim Edey, Peter Knight?s Gigspanner, Phillip Henry & Hannah Martin, Flossie Malavialle, Urban Folk Quartet, 4Square, Maggie Boyle, Paul Downes and Mick Ryan. Maggie and Paul will be joining Mick in a performance of his latest folk opera ?A Day?s Work?, which commemorates the start of World War I as seen through the eyes of a group of farm labourers and mummers.
