Fantastic end to the Summer Programme

Steve Knightley - St Gregory's

Hello - It was great to see a packed house of lovely Folk in the Barners for our final gig of the Summer season.  It was only the second time we've used the beautiful newly re-furbed St Gregory's at CCCU, but what a venue!  I shall try and make more use of it as it's such a perfect and special place.   Steve Knightley put on a great show as usual. I loved the story of him climbing on to the roof to put out his chimney fire, only to get trapped there when the velux closed behind him, and the firemen laughing at him!  I was looking forward to getting a copy of Centenary - Show of Hands project with Jim Carter and Imelda Staunton, the songs and poems of the great war set to music by Show of Hands. But you can only get it from Amazon - Click HERE for the link.

Here it is - Hope you Like it!

Did you notice the reunion tour of Terry and Gerry? For all ColvinQuarmby fans - that's one not to miss! People have been waiting 30 years for this gig!

Last season was fabulous but numbers weren't as good as required really, so we need to continue to find ways to let more people know what they're missing out on. Just an extra 10% in the audiences would make all the difference.  The gigs were all brilliant though and we had fun didn't we!  Please do what you can to help us recruit new FitBers, they will thank you for it, and so will I.

I'll attach the programme as a document.  It would be fab if you could print it out and put it up at your place of work, or local shop, or even just on your parcel shelf in the car for passers by to see. Every little helps!

We're off to Cambridge and Cropredy Festivals - so hope to see some of you there.  I'm sad to be missing the brilliant line-up at Broadstairs Folk Week this year.  Please go and see all the Folk in the Barn favourites and say hi from us, Jamie Smith's Mabon, Flossie, Chris and Julie, Phil & Hannah, Tim Edey, Gigspanner and the UFQ. And keep an eye out for some new recommendations and let me know.  If you've never been - then you really really should, it's awesome.  Here's the website

Have a wonderful Summer and see you in September, if not before in a tent or field.  Here's to sunshine.

Albert Lee, by common consent one of the world's finest guitar-players, needs no introduction to Country Music & Rock fans. He has worked with some of the world's top artists, from Emmylou Harris to the Everly Brothers, Willy Nelson, Dolly Parton to Eric Clapton.

In November 2002, at Eric's request, Albert appeared at the star-studded Memorial Concert for George Harrison at London's Albert Hall, and was featured alongside Sheryl Crow, Vince Gill and Eric Clapton at Eric's 2007, 2010 and 2013 Crossroads guitar festivals.

Albert is also a member of Bill Wyman's Rhythm Kings, and fronted the band at the O2 arena on the night of the Led Zeppelin reunion concert.

Albert is a double Grammy award winning musician, whose talents continue to be in demand by fellow performers the world throughout.

HOGAN'S HEROES

This multi-talented band features some of the top musicians in the UK.

Hogan's Heroes was formed by their namesake Gerry Hogan over 20 years ago, specifically to back Albert.  Their first gig took place in 1987 at Gerry's annual festival for pedal steel guitar.
They have played together on a regular basis since that time, and as a result have become one of the tightest units in music.

We are honoured to have such a legendary musician come to play for Folk in the Barn - I keep pinching myself.
