M?ire
and her fiddle-playing (and singing) sisters Nollaig
and Mair?ad are looking forward to a special occasion coming up soon in
their native town of Bandon, Co. Cork, Ireland - the premi?re of their
specially-composed Bandonbridge Suite, a musical representation of the
history of the town. It will form the centrepiece of their wide-ranging
concert programme at the 2nd Harp
Weekend at the Bandon Walled Town Festival on August 30th.
The sisters will also be giving day-long workshops in harp, fiddle and
traditional Irish singing on August 31st. There's some basic programme
information on the right, but full details are here
or at the event's
Facebook Page.
If you've never visited West Cork, now's your chance to combine a trip to
one of the most beautiful parts of Ireland with participation in what
promises to be a delightful event!
You can improve your harping or fiddle-playing, learn some
Irish songs, hang out at the Harp Gathering or simply attend the concerts
- in whatever combination you like. And in between times you can check
out all the fun "medieval" activities that the Bandon
Walled Town Festival has to offer.
For further information and bookings, email Maria McLaughlin or contact her at
Bandon Walled Town Festival, c/o Bandon Craft Centre, Bridge Street,
Bandon, Co. Cork, Ireland. Tel: + 353 87 310 4354.
M?ire would love to see you there...
Enjoy the rest of
the summer!

Chris and
M?ire's autumn schedule will include concerts in the UK,
Ireland, Italy and Sweden and culminate in a 20-date Christmas tour of
the UK. They hope to see you somewhere or other!
Details are here.
After a great duo tour of the West Coast of the USA in March / April they
set off to Australia in May / June for another memorable quartet tour
with M?ire's sister Nollaig and legendary Irish guitarist Arty McGlynn,
as The
Heartstring Quartet. (The quartet will return to Australia for
the festival season in March 2015.) Here's a pic taken by Chris of the
beautiful view from backstage before their final gig at the National
Celtic Festival in Portarlington, Victoria:
Almost immediately after the Australian tour Chris and M?ire headed to
the USA for Steve Kaufman's Acoustic Kamp in Tennessee and Old Songs
Festival in Albany, NY, followed by a couple of weeks in Ireland for the 29th International Festival for Irish Harp in
Termonfechin, Co Louth and the Willie Clancy Summer School in Miltown
Malbay Co Clare.
Chris and M?ire regularly post
photos and chat about their travels on their
Facebook Page, so if you enjoy Facebook, do please
"like" the Page to keep in touch! And of course if you prefer
Twitter you can follow M?ire there.
