Weekly News

'An Evening With Marlene Dietrich' // Projections & Beer Night // The Hellfire Orchestra // Shanty // The New Inventions

Good afternoon! We bring news from the revolving doors of The Lighthouse.

Firstly, a little reminder about a special event tomorrow ..

'An Evening With Marlene Dietrich'
Wednesday 10th September
Tickets ?6.50 available behind the bar and HERE.

"An Evening with Marlene Dietrich" is a musical theatre piece, written and performed by Anette Mutton, about the life and career of an icon who dominated the world stage from 1930-1974. Born in 1901 Marlene became a Hollywood star in the 1930?s and then sang for the Allies on the front line during World War II. This was followed by a long career as a cabaret artist, touring the world, with her arranger and friend Burt Bacharach. Working well into her 70?s she then retreated to her apartment in Paris, where she remained for the last 12 years of her life."

"I think this is a charming, engaging piece of theatre. Anette captures the essence of Dietrich without turning to pastiche and uses a simple format which includes audience interaction, storytelling and of course the performance of some iconic songs ( which she does very well) to create an insightful entertainment."
- Pamela Hardiman, programme manager, Theatre Royal Margate
