For those of you who knew traditional Irish music and poet: Mike Donaghy ?
A celebration of the life and work of Michael Donaghy will be taking place at
the Purcell Room at Queen Elizabeth Hall at 8.15pm on Thursday 2nd October
(i.e. National Poetry Day).
Readers will include the poets Paul Farley, Sean O'Brien, Adam O'Riordan, Don Paterson,
Eva Salzman, Jo Shapcott, John Stammers and Greta Stoddart -
and as well as Michael's partner Maddy Paxman and his son Ruairi.
There will be also a drinks party after the reading.
The event also coincides with three Donaghy-related publications:
the new paperback edition of Donaghy's Collected Poems,
Maddy Paxman's memoir The Great Below,
and Don Paterson's critical study of Donaghy's work, Smith.
