Catrin Finch and Seckou Keita

Sunday 12th October 2014

Gulbenkian Theatre, Canterbury

Music for Change presents a unique collaboration between two world-class musicians; Welsh harpist Catrin Finch and Senegalese kora player Seckou Keita. Winners of the fRoots Album Of The Year 2013, nominated for two BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards, and featured in Songlines Magazine's top ten albums of 2013, the sky is the limit for this pair of virtuoso musicians whose 'heavenly music...intricately realised' (Songlines) merges the boundaries between the genres of classical, world, folk and traditional music.

Seckou and Catrin

The harp occupies a vital place in the incredibly rich cultures of both West Africa and Wales and, remarkably, both nations share a centuries-old tradition of intricate oral history, expressed through music, song and verse. Together, Finch and Keita have risen to the tough challenge of blending two completely different musical cultures and creating something truly beautiful and entirely new. Not to be missed!
