Subject: Bridie Jackson - Glasto comes to Whitstable

Hello Everyone
How's October going? Too bloomin fast for me as usual. I had hoped to get the lawn cut one more time but now it looks like a meadow!

We had a lovely evening with Kieran and Annie Goss. The kind of night that leaves you bursting with warmth and fuzziness. Kieran could surely win an Olympic record for charm and storytelling, we should send him to the Middle East - they'd all be singing along and forgetting what they were arguing about in the first place. Kieran gave a wonderful plug for our forthcoming Luka Bloom concert, as he and Luka are good friends. He said that Luka is massive in Ireland, plays to 3000 people and couldn't believe that ticket sales here were so low. I think we've sold about 30 so far which is a bit worrying. So here I am again gently nudging to say do come and see Luka in the Canterbury Cathedral Lodge if you can - Sunday 2nd November - so it won't clash with any Festival events.

Before you know it we're coming up to our next event which is tomorrow night at the Whitstable Playhouse. It's been a while since we've been to the Playhouse so I'm really looking forward to returning and to seeing the wonderful Bridie Jackson & The Arbour. Ticket sales are creeping up slowly but there's still far far too many empty seats at the moment so please come along if you can or would like to. Bridie and her group are very special, they must be to beat 8000 other entrants to win the coveted Glastonbury introducing prize. You can book online here
www.playhousewhitstable.co.uk or ring to book in the morning Box office: 01227 272042, or come along tomorrow evening, there's plenty of room, over 100 seats still to fill :( so it would be good to see you.
On a positive note - tickets for St Agnes Fountain are almost sold out - so if you were hoping to come along - don't leave it too late. But if you do, there's still plenty at the moment for their rivals and relations! - The Albion Christmas Band (bigger venue)

ColvinQuarmby fans - don't forget Gerry Colvin will be back in Canterbury on 29th October at CCCU, St Georges Place with his re-formed 80's cowpunk skiffle combo Terry and Gerry. Gerry hasn't changed, he's as madcap as ever - come and join the fun. Don't be put off if you don't know this band's music, the songs and performance are as brilliant as ever - just played a bit faster!
Martyn Joseph tickets are selling well, I can see that one selling out if you were thinking of coming, Andy Cutting and Luke Jackson Trio tickets, also selling well.

Other News
One of FitB's loyal supporters Alan Thomas (Young Alan) who has been involved for more than 20 years with the oldest (127 years) established service charity providing support to our servicemen and women, ex servicemen and women and their families, has asked that you be informed of a forthcoming event.
SSAFA-Forces Help is well established in Canterbury, Ashford, Herne Bay and Whitstable and is one of the largest Divisions in the Country. Like most other charities, it experiences a funding problem that sometimes impacts on the extent of the support that it can give; so fundraising is a very important part of its organisation. It is therefore very welcoming news to announce that The Band of the Coldstream Guards will be performing a selection of popular classics and marches to raise funds for SSAFA's local operations. The concert is being given at the wonderful purpose built Colyer Ferguson Hall on the Kent University Campus on Saturday 15 November at 7.30 pm. Tickets, at £19 are now on sale and may be purchased from the Gulbenkian Theatre Box Office on-line or on 01227 769 075. All profit will be allocated directly to SSAFA funds. So if you generous, foot tapping FOB's want a good night out while at the same time helping a very worthwhile cause, then this is for you.
