Subject: Luka Blooming Marvellous!
Hiya
Severe ticket shortage warning! - Only 11 tickets left for the Aggies - just
letting you know.
I love it when gigs sell out, such a relief! Martyn Joseph in the Kingston
Barn is heading that way too with only 29 left for the 14th November.
Plenty left for everything else at the moment. Far too many left for Luka
Bloom still, which I'm sure is just because he's not so well known here. I
was thrilled when Christy Moore himself gave his brother Luka's gig a mention
on his facebook page today, saying 'The Brother is playing in Canterbury'
Within hours it had 32 shares and 390 likes and a long list of comments - many
saying - if only they lived in Canterbury etc...or had already booked for
London. Shhhhh don't tell Christy this, (whispering voice) but some people
who know Luka have said to me they prefer him as a performer, far more soulful
than his brother... I don't think it's going to do Christy any harm though,
he's undoubtedly amazing.
Crispin Thomas (manager of top Irish band Craobh Rua) kindly commented on the
post - "Am sure it will pick up for you Debs Earl. I know just how hard you
work to promote these shows and keep music alive. Luka is amazing. One of the
most special, giving performers I've ever been lucky enough to see...here's a
personal fave of mine..the crowd join in to harmonise spectacularly"..

Tim Edey posted.... "Go see the man who wrote one of my favourite songs City
of Chicago, he is a legend. Debs - keep doing great shows! ;)" (thanks Tim -
looking forward to seeing you on the 28th November at the Gulbenkian)
Helen (from the Gulbenkian) wrote... "So so so excited about this gig!! Met
Barry (Luka) many many years ago! Such a great Artist! "
Karen Evans wrote ... "We would have loved to be there if we weren't on
holiday- so sad to miss this legend. I recommend everyone who can, get
tickets!"
So - there y'are. It's not just me saying so..... :) If you can't make it
yourself, but have Irish friends, colleagues, neighbours - please let them
know Luka Bloom, brother of Christy Moore is going to be here. This is a rare
and special thing. We need to double the current sales (of 40) at least in
just over a week - I'm sure we can do it, I have faith in you all ;) (no
pressure like)
CANTERBURY FESTIVAL
Saw the Moulettes last night at the Spiegeltent - that's a triple WOW band. I
might have trouble preventing myself from booking them at some point. Going
to see The Tree Top Flyers there on Friday - they went down very well at
Cropredy this year. I missed them because we walked to the village to see
Marion (Fleetwood) playing with Leatherat at The Brasenose.... ahhh happy,
warm, sunny, beery memories.
Bye for now
