- Sunday night (26th
October) sees us back at Frittenden for a delightful mixed tunes
and songs session featuring the lovely singing of John Morgan
- The week after we're
looking forward to the regular First Sunday (of the month - this
time it's the 2nd November) tunes session at the Gun and
Spitroast featuring lots of tunes from the tunes workshops and
whatever else folks feel like bringing along
- And then on the 4th
November there's another song workshop at the Gun and Spitroast
from 8pm
Please pass
this email on to anyone you think might be interested.
Sunday night at the Bell & Jorrocks with John Morgan will be a
lovely night, and everyone's welcome to sing and play of course - it
may be a chaired session rather than 'round the room' but we don't
leave people out. Rather we mix the talents - if someone sings a
ballad, the next item will likely come from someone who sings comic
songs, plays a tune, does a dance or has a party piece. A deep voice
will be followed by a higher voice... and so it goes, as best as can
be organised.
We don't favour playing along with singers during verses because the
words tell a story and we should hear them - but let's sing and raise
the roof into the air on the choruses! And that can include playing
instruments also...
The Gun & Spitroast at Horsmonden /IS/ back in business - but the
bar area is even better now it has a lovely oak floor. Combined with
the low ceiling, I think we'll find the Gun's lounge is now one of
the best rooms for sessions for miles around. So come along in your
droves on the first Sunday of the month!
On Tuesday the 4th we have the next songs workshop at the Gun for
those who enjoy a good sing. It's two hours of pretty well constant
singing, and a lot of fun. We'll be including another local carol and
we'd love folks to come and practise some of the other local carols
our friends have found for us. There's a plan also to have a whole
practice singing the local carols at Marden on the 10th November.
Details are to follow.
Please think about bringing family and friends to the dance on the
29th November - they're really popular family friendly occasions,
with games and songs as well as dancing. Tickets are ?6 and ?4
(concs). There's no pressure to play all the tunes if you don't know
them - but do please come and play the ones you do know.
