The 2014 Canterbury Festival is sadly over; the venues no longer filled with eager audiences and world-class acts. The Spiegeltent has been dismantled and is back on its around-the-world journey, leaving us all eager for next year when the mirrored tent can return.
Though the Festival may be over, there is still lots to be excited about; read below for more details.
The 2014 Festival saw over 30 sold out events across the city including Baby Loves Halloween Disco, Dylan Thomas: Return Journey, Moscow Drug Club & Cirque du Cabaret Variety Show, to name just a few. This year's Festival has been one of the most successful yet, and we would love to know what your favourite events were; why not send us an email, or facebook or tweet us?

Festival Foundation Young Musicians' Bursary Winners

After a fantastic evening at St Gregory's Centre for Music on Monday 20 October, judges David Burridge (chair, and Education Director of Big Reveal), Dr David Allinson (Director of Music at Canterbury Christ Church University) & Matthew Roberts (2013 Bursary Winner), had an extremely tough time choosing the recipient of this year's Bursary. For the first time in the Bursary's history, 2014 sees two recipients of the award; vocalist Sabrina Curwen and violinist Jessica Meakin. Congratulations to both girls, and we wish them every success in the coming year as they are able to utilise the Bursary to further their musical education and career.

BAFA Conference & Awards

The British Arts and Science Festivals Association (BAFA) held their annual conference here in Canterbury during this year's Canterbury Festival. A part of the conference highlights exceptional members of Festival teams. Our Chair of the Festival Foundation, Roddy-Loder Symonds, received an exceptional service award after being nominated by our Director, Rosie Turner: ?He has vision and belief to succeed, he gives generously himself and engages lots of his closest trusted friends in the cause. When asked "Why do you do it?" he always replies, "I have been very lucky in my life and I just would like to give something back.'
Previous Festival Director, Mark Deller, was also recognised for his extraordinary contribution to arts festivals throughout his career.
