London in Stereo - November 2014

We're back with recommendations for some of the best shows happening in London this month. From the energetic brilliance of Viet Cong to slick pop shows from Metronomy, the capital is full of awesome music all November.

We've just released our new issue too, the mysterious and enigmatic iamamiwhoami is on the cover, as we chat to her about the stunning visuals that are so important to her work, and her beautiful new album Blue. Alongside legendary percussionist Tony Allen, chatting Damon Albarn, and writing new music.

Alongside reviews, listings and tons of new music, there's loads to get stuck into.

Grab yourself some tickets to our favourite shows below...

Marika Hackman

Sinkane

Gum Takes Tooth

Metronomy
Alexandra Palace on Friday 5th December

What a moment for the wonderful Metronomy. A huge headline show that's just reward for a succession of near faultless records and one of the most enjoyable live experiences you can have. This should be triumphant, spectacular fun.

Marika Hackman
XOYO on Tuesday 18th November
We've fallen pretty hard for the delicate musical stylings of Marika Hackman, her witty lyricism juxtaposed to the honey dipped vocals, floating over complex and layered guitar-work. She's now due to headline her biggest London show yet, at XOYO.

Sinkane
Oslo on Monday 1st December

City Slang have been on a role lately, and that role very much includes Sinkane's wondeerful Mean Love album released earlier this year. Melodically beat driven, it'll get under your skin and down to your feet, irresistibly dancable.

Gum Takes Tooth
The Lexington on Friday 21st November

Buried deep in the folds of primordial digitised bass blasts and a never-ending supply of chomping drumkit romps lays one hell of a party. Gum Takes Tooth have made one of the weird and wonderful albums of the year and are a force to behold live.

Viet Cong

GIG OF THE MONTH

Viet Cong
Total Refreshment Centre - Tuesday 18th November

'Bring clothes you wouldn't mind getting messy' is the warning/promise ahead of Viet Cong's debut London show. The band has been stealing hearts left right and centre with the first glimpse at a stunning debut album from Continental Shelf and given the excitement about these guys, this has the makings of a 'what do you mean you weren't there?' night.
