Subject: Trembling Bells with Mike Heron

If you were to re-imagine classic 1960's British psych folk for these rhizomatic times you might come up with something like TREMBLING BELLS.  Existing as a central project in a baffling range of activities for founding member ALEX NEILSEN, the free drummer and song writer whose projects are far abroad and collaboration has been sought out by an array of artists: he joined BONNIE PRINCE BILLY's ensemble for a tour of Scotland and Ireland and created a classic live album in ?Is it the Sea?' http://www.dominorecordco.com/artists/bonnie-prince-billy-with-harem-scarem-and-alex-nielson/ That relationship was reversed and enthusiasm reciprocated when WILL OLDHAM joined Trembling Bells https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JGK-H9NopBE on a tour of the pubs of Britain last year, and recorded ?The Marble Downs' http://honestjons.com/shop/preview/39614    Tailgated but not derailed by THURSTON MOORE collaborations at Caf? n'Oto in noise/improve events, Neilsen finds time to create the multidisciplinary performance that is DEATH SHANTIES who you can't book even for money. And now vocal group CRYING LION. And so on. And on.

If it would be true to say the concept of Trembling Bells is belongs to Neilsen, the sound belongs to the ever evolving band - and almost any kind of fretted, blown or hit thing you can think of meeting alt punk guitar, celtic fiddle,  jazz rhythm and psych keyboards on a schizoid plane.  But above all else it is LAVINIA BLACKWALL's astounding vocals https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f1hR45FlTcc that fix and centre things here.
This time out Trembling Bells collaborate with INCREDIBLE STRING BAND https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=moyvaM9c4nM founder and psych folk legend MIKE HERON. And they will end up at the Queen's Head in Islington on 28th January 2015, guests of WILLESDEN FOLK and NEST COLLECTIVE, which is not a very big venue so will be very busy if not sold out because everyone is so generous and the tickets not so much.
