FORTHCOMING GUESTS:

APRIL 7TH ? ANDY IRVINE
(
http://www.andyirvine.com/)

Andy Irvine emerged onto the Dublin folk scene in 1962 and has been a leading figure in Irish traditional music ever since. He is a multi-instrumentalist and a fine songwriter. Andy has been part of many of the great Irish groups, from Sweeney's Men to Planxty, De Dannan and Patrick Street. He is also well known for his collaborations with Paul Brady, Dick Gaughan, Christy Moore, Davy Spillane and others. He has frequently featured on the BBC?s Transatlantic Sessions. Come early!

APRIL 14TH ? CARRIVICK SISTERS supported by Goat Roper Rodeo Band
(

Twin sisters Laura and Charlotte Carrivick from South Devon were described by Ralph McTell as one of the best young duos he has seen. Professionals since 2007, both are songwriters and they play a range of instruments (mainly guitar, mandolin, banjo, dobro and fiddle) and are noted for their vocal harmonies. Their background is in bluegrass, but their songs show a strong folk influence. Tonight they will be supported by the Goatropers, an upcoming young band.

APRIL 21ST ? MICK RYAN & PAUL DOWNES
(
http://www.wildgoose.co.uk/displayArtist.asp?ARTIST_ID=134 & http://www.pauldownes.com/index.html)

Mick Ryan is known as a fine singer of traditional and original songs. He has written a series of highly successful folk operas (with casts that include Paul Downes and himself), among them ?The Navvy?s Wife?, 'The Pauper?s Path? and ?A Day?s Work?. Paul is a favourite at Dartford and is well remembered as one half of Downes and Beer. He plays the guitar effortlessly, but sees himself more as a singer and interpreter of songs. The last visit to the Club by this duo of folk stalwarts proved to be an excellent night?s entertainment.

APRIL 28TH ? VICKI SWAN & JONNY DYER
(
http://www.swan-dyer.co.uk/)

Vicki and Jonny have built a reputation as one of the best young duos on the folk scene today. They may also be remembered as two-thirds of the band Serious Kitchen. Vicki is a superb musician who plays the Swedish nyckelharpa, Scottish smallpipes and flute. Jonny is a brilliantly inventive guitarist. Most of their repertoire is written by Jonny, but very much in a traditional style. It ranges from driving, up-tempo tunes to soulful airs, with sensitively sung songs for variety.
