Canterbury really is in bloom and amid the April showers and early heat
waves, Festival staff have been very busy bees. Highlights include the launch
of the Schools' Poetry Competition with the exciting theme of 'Rewriting the
World'. The Festival Foundation has announced it will be hosting a unique
chance to visit Goodnestone Park with a guided tour by acclaimed author
George Plumptre. Closer to home, Festival House is undergoing a
eco-friendly facelift, with the aim of becoming as energy efficient as possible

Inspired by Michael Rosen's children's poem about broccoli coming from
the armpits of big green giants, two Kent-based performance poets, Helen
Seymour and Neelam Saredia, have prepared primary and secondary school
teaching materials based on this exciting theme.
Perhaps your children have met the friendly monster that lives in Canterbury
Cathedral, or seen the Turner Contemporary art works come to life after
dark? Please direct your teacher to our website in order to download the
free teaching pack and your children might be in with a chance of winning
a cash prize or of having their poem displayed on vinyl on board
Stagecoach buses across the South East.
