WESSEX ACOUSTIC NEWS
We are taking bookings for our next guest COLUM
SANDS who is coming to the club on Friday 15th May, just one week away!
Colum and the Sands Family have been pillars of
the Irish folk music scene for many years. Colum has been to the club several
times before and always been highly entertaining. He is soft spoken but gets
his point across, often with delightful humour. He has tales of life in rural
Newry, and wonderful songs, some funny, some with deep sentiments. We had his
brother Ben at the club a few months ago.
Countless other performers have been introduced
to the air waves through Colum's work as a presenter of BBC Radio Ulster's Folk
Club programme, he has also broadcast a series of programmes for BBC Radio 2
and has compiled and presented a series RTE Radio called "Rootin About'.
Supporting Colum we have Terry McDonald, a Poole
based singer/guitarist who loves to sing traditional or traditional style
songs. Terry has provided support at the club a few times before.
Tickets for this night are ?10 booked ahead, or
?12 on the door. If you wish to pay by credit card, e-tickets are available here.
If you are a member of the NUS, RBL or a serving
member of the armed forces, then entrance is only ?5.
Book your tickets now by replying to this email,
or call me, Kathy, on 01202 732239 or 07590 411515.
John has moved home finally so it will be
difficult for him to take bookings. By the time Colum comes he will be a proper
resident of Shaftesbury!
Please keep an eye on upcoming club guests too -

Keeping music live!
