Hello and hello,
As you've probably guessed, there's news in store. I sympathise with
those who grow pooped with my prose - so i'll begin with a
quick summary;
- Luke
Jackson, In Store Session, Wed20thMay
- Cocos
Lovers, The Astor, Sat23rdMay
- New
Records in Stock at Smugglers Records
Luke Jackson
is an estimable young roots singer/songwriter hailing from Canterbury,
Kent. He's been making quite a splashing in the UK folk scene of
late, so we're thrilled to have him perform in such an intimate and
beautiful setting. If we do say so ourselves. Get there for
7.30, grab a delicious local brew from the Just Reproach, and have a
great time. Guaranteed. More info here.
Ahh...Cocos Lovers.
Our parents and our children. They are the definitive Smugglers band.
This Saturday they bring material from their upcoming new album 'Twisted Moon'
to hometown Deal for the first time. You might come across this
little excerpt in local news disseminators;
'Continuing to
operate 'well beyond the remit of alt-folk (The Independent)', local
artisans Cocos
Lovers have
gone from strength to strength over the past year. From BBC sessions
to SXSW festival in Texas, Cocos conquer wherever they
roam. In this special fundraiser show, they will be performing a full
array of music from their handsome repertoire - including music
from their upcoming fourth album.
In support we have the amazing Poggy Hatton & band. Local bohemian
Poggy Hatton is one of the best kept secrets in East-Kent. Her
poignant songwriting is as beautiful as it is unique. She does not
often play with a full band, so this will truly be a rare treat.'
...those in the know will know not to miss this one. Buy your tickets
here.
Lastly, we felt we should point out all the amazing new stock we have
in the Record Shop (see below). Pop in n' say hello why don't
you. Have yourself a peruse. Check out the new
website. There's lots going on now and still more in
the pipeline (Smugglers
Pirate Radio, Smugglers
Record Club, Smugglers
Lock In etc...). Now is precisely the time to get
involved with Smugglers Records.
Over and Art,
Arthur Smuggler
