JUNE
2ND ? PETE COOPER & RICHARD BOLTON
(http://www.petecooper.com/cooperandbolton.htm)
Pete Cooper will already be known to Dartford regulars as fiddle/mandolin player and vocalist in the band ?Rattle on the Stovepipe?. He also teaches, composes and writes about traditional fiddling and is Director of the London Fiddle School. Pete first teamed up with Richard Bolton (cello, guitar & vocals) in 1999 and together they perform a mixture of British and American folk songs, their own compositions and dance tunes from various folk traditions. Expect an evening of the highest quality.
JUNE 9TH ? BOB
FOX
(http://www.bobfoxmusic.com/)
Bob Fox has been performing professionally for over 30 years, initially with Tom McConville and then with Stu Luckley. Nowadays, he has mainly works solo, performing songs from the North East and playing acoustic guitar. More recently, he has been playing the role of Songman in the stage production of Warhorse. Bob has one of the finest voices on the circuit and his performances are marked by warmth, humour and exhortations to join in the choruses.
JUNE
16TH ? THE YOUNG?UNS
(http://www.theyounguns.co.uk/)
At the age of 17, Sean Cooney, David Eagle
and Michael Hughes discovered Stockton Folk Club and were ?amazed? by what they
found. Someone called them the young?uns
and the name stuck. By 2013 they had a
reputation for sublime a capella harmonies and they turned full
time. Their act combines humour, bold
vocals, gripping stories and great musicality and all without a set-list. This year they have won the BBC Radio2
Folk Award for Best Group and the Spiral Earth Award for Best Live Act.
JUNE
23RD ? CLIVE CARROLL
(http://www.clivecarroll.co.uk/)
Clive
Carroll started playing bluegrass and Irish music on banjo in his family band
as a teenager. He went on to study
classical guitar and won prizes for his playing and composition. As a professional, Clive has supported John
Renbourn, Tommy Emmanuel and others.
These days, he composes for films, TV, etc. and performs in many guitar
styles with a speed and accuracy that must be seen to be believed.
JUNE
30TH ? GREG RUSSELL & CIARAN ALGAR
(http://www.russellalgar.co.uk)
Although
they have been performing together only since 2012, Greg Russell and Ciaran
Algar have already won two BBC Radio2 Folk Awards: the Young Folk Award in 2013
and the Horizon Award in 2014. For those
who have seen them perform, it will be no surprise to learn that they are
heavily booked up for the foreseeable future.
Both are excellent musicians and they display an amazing level of
energy, ability and stagecraft, with a maturity way beyond their tender years.
