Here comes something a little different - Oysterband as you don't quite know them.

Up close and personal: John Jones, Alan Prosser and Ian Telfer, the three founder members, songwriters and and creative heart of Oysterband, invite you to an evening of fresh acoustic performance and not-entirely-discreet stories - an insight into our history, sometimes turbulent, often funny, with, of course, great songs from every era of our career. This we are calling "Oysters3".

"The idea arose from Sidmouth and Shrewsbury Festivals recently asking us to do ?something different' as well as the regular Oysterband style of concert. We more or less improvised the show, and to our genuine astonishment it went down a storm - and we wondered how on earth we'd never thought of doing this before!" - Ian.

The first outing for Oysters3 this year will be at Shrewsbury Folk Festival during the daytime on Saturday 29th August, with a full Oysterband Special show the same evening. (More about Shrewsbury below.)

See you there - it'll be a blast!

With a proud smile (and a whimper of relief) we can announce that the entire body of Oysterband song lyrics - all 150 of them, so far - is now available online at www.oysterband.co.uk/lyrics - our warm thanks to Giolla Decair and Caz White, who did most of the actual work. It was a mighty job. Now we can settle the dressing-room arguments about "How did that one go...?" Though possibly not the ones about "What *$%!_at_ key was it in???"

All we need now is to get the Discography sorted out...

Before the annual avalanche of info about summer festivals, a note about SHREWSBURY FOLK FESTIVAL, which is a bit different for us. As well as the Oysters3 performance, we'll be doing an OYSTERBAND SPECIAL. John writes:

"Just confirmed: Ray Cooper [Chopper] to join Oysterband on stage at Shrewsbury, along with long-time former drummer Lee Partis and the band's favourite Irish piper James O'Grady. All 9 of us on main stage together - we just need 2 more to match Bellowhead and there might even be some leaping!!"

That's Sat Aug 29th. But first:

Knitted Oysterband was delighted to take part in the Knitted Character Folk Festival http://www.knittedcharacterfolkfestival.co.uk, the brainchild of folk pop skiffle punk legend Gerry Colvin (with thanks for inspiration to Harry Hill). Now the band (the knitted version) is being auctioned off for one of the band's favourite charities, the Ocean Youth Trust South - see www.oytsouth.org - which does sterling work with young people in difficult situations. Please bid now!

Band members come complete with instruments and Xmas hats. Bids for the whole band only, please, NOT for individual members. You can bid on Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/oysterband1) or by emailing oystersfacebook_at_gmail_dot_com to tell us how much you would like to offer.

Deadline Fri 17 July and then the band will be posted to the highest bidder. With thanks to Ken and Donna from Square Roots Promotions. Bid generously - it's for a very good cause!

All the best
