FORTHCOMING GUESTS:
JULY
7TH ? ARCHIE FISHER
(http://www.scottish-folk-music.com/bands-singers-pages/singer-archie-fisher.htm)
Archie Fisher has
been widely recognised for his contributions to Scottish folk music, both
traditional and as a songwriter. In 2006
he was awarded an MBE and in 2007 he was inducted into the Scots Traditional
Music Hall of Fame. Archie comes from a
family steeped in music and his two sisters are both professional singers. He has hosted BBC Radio Scotland?s
'Travelling Folk' programme for over 25 years.
JULY 14TH ?
LANDERMASON
(http://www.landermason.com/home.asp)
Fiona Lander and Paul Mason have been writing, recording and performing together since 2000. Fiona (vocals, piano, whistles, saxes, clarinet and recorder) and Paul (guitars and vocals) have developed an impressive sound, full of variety and with lots of audience interaction. They combine both traditional and contemporary folk with jazz and other styles in their beautiful and striking arrangements.
JULY
21ST ? DAVE ELLIS & BOO HOWARD
(http://www.daveandboo.com/)
Dave
Ellis & Boo Howard have become firm favourites at Dartford Folk Club over
the years, with Dave?s intricate guitar work and Boo's mellow vocals combining
in a song-writing style all their own.
Dave first made a name for himself as a leading folk guitarist in the
early 1970?s. He plays 6-string and
12-string guitars and a 5-string banjo to a standard that few can match. Boo plays guitar and bass guitar.
JULY
28TH ? HUNTER MUSKETT
(http://huntermuskett.com/)
Hunter Muskett
first came
together at Avery Hill College in 1969, where they were all trainee
teachers and for a few years were one of the cult bands on the folk scene.
Now, after a gap of more than 35 years, they are back together for the
occasional tour and performing both old and new material. This year they will be promoting the Musket
Brewery, Maidstone, whatever that entails!
We have very much enjoyed their visits to the Club over the last
few years ? the old spark still
seems to be there!
AUGUST
The Club will be CLOSED
for regular guest nights but there will be SINGAROUNDS at the usual venue on at
least some Tuesdays ? more details in the next newsletter.
For more information on the club (including directions on how to get there) and listings of guest performers past, present and future, please visit our website at http://www.DartfordFolk.org.uk.
