Hello Everyone
Good news - we can all take our hooks off their tenters! I've just received a phone call from Chris Wood and can confirm his voice has returned from wherever it went. What a relief for him and us all!

The lovely people at CCCU are allowing us a straight swap of the date with no penalties - as long as it's before the end of the month. We have therefore re-arranged the concert for Tuesday 28th July. I realise that some of you may not be able to make the re-scheduled date and am really sorry if that's the case. Please contact wegottickets and they will arrange to refund your ticket price. If you can make it - hooray! (and maybe some that couldn't make the 11th might now be able to come too...??) your existing booking will stand. Full details are on the website as usual. You can also pay offline in advance by sending me a cheque, or finding me on Thursday night at the Dougie MacLean concert at the Gulbenkian, or pay on the door.

...and talking of Dougie MacLean....

Yes just two days until wonderful Dougie comes back to Canterbury to beguile us with his beautiful voice and songs and storytelling. Still plenty of good seats left for this concert so grab yours now....

If you don't know about Dougie - here's some blurb....

"Dougie MacLean visits Five Favourite English Venues after his Fabulous 40th Year! (editors note ....so thrilled to be one of his top five)
Scotland?s celebrated singer songwriter Dougie MacLean (OBE) is looking forward to being back on the road for his concerts in England in July with concerts from Gateshead to Canterbury (via Beverley in Yorkshire, St Albans and Bury St Edmunds). He spent the early months of 2015 focusing on recording and film projects in advance of his spring and summer concerts in Germany, Scotland and England! MacLean comments ?I needed some calm, creative time to work on projects that have been forming in my mind through all the crazy months of 2014! now this is proving to be another wonderful year and I?m looking forward especially to my upcoming concerts and festivals (including our own 10-day Perthshire Amber Festival in the autumn) .and a tour in Australia to end the year!?

His brilliantly successful year had many highlights. Dougie was one of the main performers (along with Lulu, Deacon Blue and Kylie Minogue) at the Closing Ceremony of the Commonwealth Games, singing ?Caledonia? and Auld Lang Syne? to an estimated global audience of over 1 billion in 71 countries! He also recorded an a stunning album of his songs with the Royal Scottish National Orchestra, performed solo and with his trio and 10-piece band to over 200,000 in five different countries and celebrated the 10th anniversary of his record breaking Perthshire Amber Festival in the autumn.

MacLean?s songs have been covered by hosts of artists, including Paolo Nutini, Amy MacDonald, Ronan Keating, Mary Black, Cara Dillon and Grammy Award winning Kathy Mattea. His song ?Caledonia? has become one of Scotland's most popular contemporary songs and his music has been used in Hollywood films (eg Last of the Mohicans), TV Drama (eg BBC's A Mug's Game) and he?s been the subject of three BBC TV music documentaries. Dougie has received numerous gold discs for album sales, two prestigious Tartan Clef Awards, a place in the Scottish Music Hall of Fame, a Lifetime Achievement Award from BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards and an OBE."

Dougie will be supported by young Essex multi-instrumentalist Toby Shaer and his trio, plus special guest - Young Folk Award Winner Ciaran Algar. They are really really good - come and see....
How lucky are we!

Thanks to those of you who send messages of support for Chris last week, it must have been a very worrying time for him, thanks for your patience with re- arranging this concert. We couldn't let you know sooner because Chris just didn't know how long he would take to heal, and he didn't want to let everyone down a second time.

Hope to see you at these our last two concerts of the Summer.

cheers

Debs
