Subject: Something for the weekend sir/ma'am?

Dear lovely people...

Just a quick email (that's taken me hours to put together!), especially to let you know about some exciting stuff this weekend!

Our Summer highlight...Paprika - this Sunday!

Paprika is no misnomer. This fiery Balkan band in fact surpasses itself in doing exactly what it says on the tin. Rapid-fire melodies swoop in from Serbia, Romania, Bulgaria, Macedonia, delivered by the lightning fingers of musicians born and bred into each of their unique traditions.

Paprika is a band that could not have been formed outside London. This is not just for the city's cosmopolitan chaos, but also because Balkan music seems to have seized London's heart.

And since their humble beginnings in 2009, Paprika is still certainly more than capable of working the audience into a frenzy, with melodies darting in one direction before somersaulting and catapulting down a completely different and dangerous path. They are also focusing on bringing rare and lost traditional Balkan music back to life, arranging them into their line-up of violin, two accordions, guitar, bass and percussion.

The band released their eponymous album Paprika in 2011, and have performed all over the world, from New Zealand to Japan, and including at prestigious venues such as the Royal Albert Hall and the Sydney Opera House.

Here's a You Tube link to their music...it's simply wonderful:

This Monday is 'Harp Bazaar' Gypsy jazz like you've never heard before (maybe!):

"Harp Bazaar" features a harp, a Gypsy guitar, a double bass and a clarinet! Tara Minton is a harpist, singer and songwriter hailing from Melbourne, Australia. After completing her studies in classical harp and piano, contemporary voice, and acting Tara relocated to London in the spring of 2011 where she met Filippo Dall'Asta (guitar), a regular performer at Le QuecumBar as well as London's most prestigious venues.

Together they formed " Harp Bazaar", a Gypsy jazz ensemble that performs the old Gypsy Jazz classics incorporating the beautiful 47-string instrument for a never heard-before twist!

Personally, I am looking forward to this gig; can't wait to hear how these musicians mix our traditional Gypsy music with the mystical and heavenly instrument that's the harp!
