DARTFORD FOLK CLUB UPDATE

Next Tuesday (28th) will be the last chance to visit the club before our summer break. It should be a great evening in the company of our old friends Hunter Muskett (http://huntermuskett.com/).

Dartford Folk Club meets on Tuesday from 8.30 to 11.00 p.m. at Dartford Working Men?s Club, 40 Essex Road, Dartford DA1 2AU.

AUGUST

The club is closed for regular guest nights during August but, as usual, there will be SINGAROUNDS on Tuesdays throughout the month, generally starting 8.15-8.30. Please drop in and join in, or sing along to the choruses, or just have a drink and listen.

Just as many of us have done on previous years, you could always meet up for a meal with friends on any Tuesday and, afterwards, walk round to the Working Men?s Club for the singaround. Twins and the Flying Boat (Wetherspoons) have always been favourites with Folk Club members.

As usual, there is an excellent programme at the 50th BROADSTAIRS FOLK WEEK (8th to 15th August). It includes headline names such as Kate Rusby, Demon Barbers XL, Flook, Edward II and Spooky Men?s Chorale, but also features many Dartford favourites: Tim Edey & Brendan Power, Vin Garbutt, Phillip Henry & Hannah Martin, Brooks Williams, Tom McConville, Long Hill Ramblers, Belshazzar?s Feast, Greg Russell & Ciaran Algar and Edwina Hayes. And don?t overlook The Broonzies who comprise Jez Lowe, Ian Thomson, Chris Parkinson, Maggie Holland and Rod Clements.

As in the last two years, there will be a special meeting of Dartford Folk Club at Broadstairs Sailing Club on Tuesday 11th August at 4.30 pm. Just like before, this will be hosted by Annette Pye and, as guests, will feature Nick & Mally Dow who are experts on Romany songs. Do get along and support Annette if you can ? she?ll welcome lots of floor spots and it?s a ?steal? at just ?4.
