We hope you are having a good summer. We are excited to announce that we have partnered with Folkestone Quarterhouse & Folkestone Fringe to bring Global Sounds to the new Outlands Festival in Payers Park in August, starting this Sunday 2 August.


Outlands is a new festival of outdoor art, celebrating community, culture and public space taking place on Sunday 2, 9 and 16 of August in Payers Park. Co-curated by Folkestone Quarterhouse, Folkestone Fringe and Music for Change, Outlands Festival presents a programme of family theatre, world dance, live music workshops and much more over August 2015.


On Sunday 2 August Second Hand Dance present Grass (2.30pm, pay what you can). Featuring worms, slugs, snails, ant dancing and lots of other fun facts this quirky dance show will get you thinking about the world beneath your feet! Music For Change's Global Sounds will also be running workshops and performances throughout the afternoon including a West African circus skills workshop and performance from Emmanuel Okine, a South African acapella vocals and gumboot workshop from U'Zambezi and Roma music from Téa Hodzic.
 


 

Dr Longitude's Marvellous Imaginary Menagerie visits Outlands Festival on Sunday 9 August (2.30pm & 4.30pm, adults £6/ children £5/ family £20). Packed with puppets, music and magic the world's weirdest wonder emporium comes to Folkestone to answer questions such as are Bumblewasp poisonous? What do Whistling Pank's eat? And What happens when you lick a Tresillian Toad? Global Sounds will also be getting people active with Gypsy-Jazz music from Yiannis Zaronis, a West African drumming workshop from George Fiawoo (sign up recommended) , an acoustic performance from Kotchin, finishing off the day with an interactive parkour workshop (sign up recommended). 


 


 


 

The final day of Outlands Festival celebrates the best in emerging singers/songwriters and bands from Folkestone and East Kent. Presented by Music for Change and partner Beautiful Town Music Sunday 16 August acts including Nina Clark, Tasha McCoy, Emily Watts, Thomas Ashby and Avi Simmons will be performing in Payers Park ending the festival on a high note!
