Release: 14 September 2015

Audiences offered a very different view of theatre as part of the Gulbenkian?s autumn programme.

In Stories from a Crowded Room by experimental company Earthfall (21 -24 Oct), the audience enter the ?room? along with the actors, musicians and dancers who make up the cast. Gradually the characters and their stories emerge, giving audience members an incredible, up-close experience you wouldn?t normally get in traditional theatre seating.

Family theatre features heavily once again in the autumn programme. Gulbenkian are delighted to announce that world leading Akram Khan Company will be performing Chotto Desh (25 Nov) a brilliant dance performance for families, and a number of shows by Scottish Dance Theatre, Flying Eye Company and Second Hand Dance are for smaller children (8 months and up!).

Shakespeare features heavily in the programme, with Smooth Faced Gentlemen bringing their multi-award winning Othello: an all female production (13 Oct); the Pantaloons bring their take on Macbeth(12 Nov), and the ever popular Propeller returning with Pocket Merchant (7 Oct).

As ever, Gulbenkian offers the opportunity to see leading names in comedy, with Patrick Kielty (2 Oct), Chris Ramsey (4 Oct), The Noise Next Door (6 Oct), James Acaster (14 Oct), Jason Byrne (18 Oct), Ed Byrne (25 Oct), Dan Clarke (26 Oct), Sean Hughes (22 Nov), and Hal Cruttenden (5 Dec) all on the bill before Christmas.

There is also live music with well-established names such as Ralph McTell, Martyn Joseph and Yolanda Brown and great new talent including the much talked about Flight Brigade and winners of this year?s BBC 2 Folk Awards - The Rails.

Booking is now open for the season at www.thegulbenkian.co.uk. or by calling 01227 769075.
