Fake
Thackray at Walthamstow Folk
Sunday 20th
September
An evening of the
songs of the legendary Jake Thackray.
Jake's songs are
exquisitely funny, satirical, incisive, irreverent, witty and
gloriously un-PC - and sometimes all of these at the same time. Jake
was a one off, his poetry broke the rules yet worked beautifully. He
was a true craftsman of the English language, and his legacy of scores
of songs continues to delight audiences of all ages today.
This evening is our club's contribution to the Stow Festival.
There are a number of events during this festival so visit the festival
website for more details. In particular we would bring your attention
to this Friday 18th when our own Russ Chandler will be appearing in his
role as a band member of Steve
White and the Protest Family at the Olde Rose &
Crown along with Attila
the Stockbroker.
