Subject: John Doyle - Nearer than Richard Thompson
Hello All
Firstly - thanks to all who came to our opening concert with Home Service at
the Gulbenkian last Sunday, and to those of you who signed up to the emailing
list on the night. It was a truly special and memorable evening as we knew
it would be. Thanks for all the wonderful emails and comments on facebook and
twitter too - they all mean a great deal. As one of you said, we all
witnessed a bit of Folk history that night.
John Doyle
It seems impossible that a week has passed already and we're gearing up to the
second date in our new Season tomorrow night at our beloved Kingston Barn with
the magic Irish musician John Doyle. Now I know (because some of you have
confessed ha ha) that some are forsaking us to go up to that big Landan Tan to
see Mr Richard Thompson tomorrow night and therefore can't make it. Now I
don't blame you at all, If I'd known about it sooner etc etc... but that's the
risk you take when you book things nearly a year ahead. Maybe one day Mr
Thompson will come and play for us in the Barn, a girl can dream eh! (perhaps
if you all ask him for me) Anyway if any of you are still at a loose end
tomorrow night, we have far too many tickets left. I really thought someone
of John Doyle's brilliance would have sold out way in advance - but there ya
go. There are also still about ten places left on the workshop in the
afternoon.... it would be fantastic to fill a few more of those.... even if
you're not a musician - it would still be a fascinating and educational (and
fun) experience..... All the details are on the website as usual...

Be good to see you.
Other Ticket News....
There is still good availability for all the Autumn Winter concerts except....
Chris Leslie
The Albion Xmas Band
Both of these have sold really well and will probably sell out in the next
week or so, so if you're interested - don't hang about!
After John we have the delightful US Trio Harpeth Rising at the Black Robin on
the 27th September. This is a truly fantastic group, their new album is
superb, I'll send you a link so you can listen for yourself.

We've only sold 19 out of 50 tickets for these amazing girls, so again, a few
more would be very welcomed...
Off out now to prepare for Mr Doyles visit tomorrow.
cheers
Debs
