Subject: Last Call For The 'Welsh Springsteen'

Hey Everyone
Welcome to November - our biggest brightest excitingest month EVER at Folk in the Barn! The perfect antidote to the darkest dingiest month I reckon. It starts tomorrow with the powerful and passionate singer songwriter Martyn Joseph at the Gulbenkian. Martyn is one of our select few artists that get to play here every year. This will be his eighth visit in the ten years since he first came to play for us and we and his fans continue to support one of the hardest working and most genuine musicians on the circuit. If you haven't seen or heard of Martyn Joseph do come and see what you've been missing. An incredible voice that spans a roar to a whisper, a way of playing guitar that makes you think there's a whole band on stage, and songs of searing honesty and humanity, delivered with humility and humour... Here's some words about Martyn from people that can put it better than me....

“Stunning, heartfelt music”
Bob Harris BBC Radio 2, October 2013

“Springsteen-indebted Americana, suspended folk chords glistening beneath troubadour tales, his lyrical eloquence still inspired almost 30 years on from his debut”
MOJO

“One of the most charismatic and electrifying performers in Britain today tough and passionate”
Tom Robinson BBC 6 music

“One of acoustic music’s most original voices, and most forward looking of his generation of singer/songwriters”| Q Magazine

“A profound experience”
The Boston Globe

“Songs of social commentary as much as love, with a rootsy sensibility” Time Out

“Written with craft, performed with passion”
Financial Times

“He is one of our most intelligent writers. He gets better and better like the finest of wines”
Bob Harris BBC Radio 2

“Britain`s best kept secret a challenging songwriter and a compelling courageous live performer”
MoJo 4* review

Martyn has played at most of our various venues, this is his first time at The Gulbenkian, and strangely there are quite a few empty seats left to fill. If you're free tomorrow night, take a chance, you won't regret it. Bring along a young person, we have a student discount. Doors 7pm, starts at 7.30pm £17 full price, £10 students.

Then to 2016

It's been a very busy time at FitB Towers, as we mentioned last time. In addition to promoting the current season of concerts, we've been booking lots of new ones for next year. Check the website www.folkinthebarn.co.uk you'll see we've added some fab new dates in January and February. January sees the return of the popular 'Even Cosier' series at the Black Robin and February is just pure class. We have Steve Knightley with his 'All at Sea' Tour, by the sea in Whitstable and most excitingly of all, in the lead up to their 50th year - we have not one but TWO Fairport Convention dates, again at the Gulbenkian. While you're there click on www.fairportconvention.com and have a look at their brand new website. Good innit! Links for the January gig tickets should be live by midday on Monday and the February gigs are open for booking right now. I'm thinking Christmas presents.... ? Does that help?

A quick thank you for all who came along to the Barn last weekend for Chris Leslie - it was a wonderful evening, great to see so many there. Chris was superb, one to watch - he could go far....

Enjoy the rest of the weekend.
