Subject: Smugglers Newsletter - Sam Lee

Hello dear friends/sworn nemeses,

Hope to find you all in grand form. All is well in camp Smugglers. The usual menu of winter activities is in preparation even as I write this. A fine feast of warming acts. Joys to be found in The Bleak Mind-Winter.

The first course, we are proud to say, is the Mercury Prize nominated Sam Lee and Friends, this Saturday 13th November in St Mary's Art Centre.

'That's setting the bar pretty high very early isn't it guys?' I hear you cry.

Well that's just how we do. Click HERE for proof.

"Sam is the most accomplished and authentic interpreter of traditional English song to emerge in years" - FRoots Magazine

Sam Lee is a 21st-century artist. He collects new versions of old songs on his iPhone and laptop, but his repertoire is steeped in the reek and smoke of folk history and lore. These old tales of love, parting, exile and murder are bound to today by a sympathetic magic, still resonant, which parts the veil on vivid scenes from our islands' deep history. He is mesmerising, and fascinating.

In support we have the beautiful Ladies Of The Lake. They are a trio of strong womyn singers, and thus sparkling harmonies and enchanting arrangements abound. But don't let that fool you - their outward ensemble belies a dark and charming humour. They move easily between the tongue-in-cheek, the macabre and the heartbreaking. They are a joy.

Give yourself a treat this weekend. Tickets HERE. Come on down, have a cold one (or maybe a hot one? There's an idea - we'll see what we can do) and let the music soothe your seasonally affected soul.

See you there,

Arthur Smuggler,
SmugglersHQ
