Subject: On Track for The Rails
Hello
What a month! and where's it gone? I can't believe we're almost at our last
concert for November and the last regular concert of the year before our extra
Christmassy December dates begin. It's been a wonderful series of concerts
this month, all so different but equally enjoyable and uplifting. Martyn
Joseph loved playing at the Gulbenkian, and it proved an excellent venue for
him. He wants to return there next year and we're always pleased to have him
back. The Treacherous Orchestra were something else! One of the most
exciting concerts we've ever had and the best audience participation...one
enthusiastic fan even threw some breakdance moves - up on the stage! We LOVED
them, and hope to have them back. Then just last Sunday Oysters 3 at the
Cathedral Lodge - a very special, warm and personall evening taking us back to
the beginning of a journey, sharing the tales and accompanying music of three
of our best loved friends and musicians who eventually became Oysterband. It
was so nice of them to invite Chris Taylor up on stage for some tunes, and to
see so many friends, old and new in the audience. Thanks to everyone who's
supported these gigs and made them so special.
THE RAILS
We have one more to go -and this is your late reminder for The Rails, Kami
Thompson and James Walbourne, at the Gulbenkian tomorrow night. If you're a
Richard and Linda Thompson, or early Fairport fan, you'll love this duo.
Beautiful harmonies, melodies, songs and guitar playing - classic English Folk
Rock at it's best. There will be tickets available on the door at 7pm, so why
not extend your weekend into Monday and come and join us, just £15 a ticket
and only £10 if you're a student. You can read and hear more on the website
www.folkinthebarn.co.uk
Did you know we have a YouTube channel where you can see clips from many of
the concerts we've held over the years?....if you were there, or just enjoy
the clips, please leave a comment or give them a thumbs up. Come and find us
on facebook and twitter too, there are often photos, comments and clips shared
and discussed on there especially from Harriet and Martin, our excellent
regular photographers (thanks guys).

DECEMBER
We decided on three Christmas concerts this year but only because each one is
very different from the other and as they are across three different
venues/locations, hopefully there is something for everyone. They are all
proving very popular, we only have 12 tickets left for Hark Hark on the 6th at
the Kingston Barn, so please be quick if you'd like to come. The Albion
Christmas Band has long been sold out, but there are still plenty of tickets
left for St Agnes Fountain on the 16th. Usually 'The Aggies' sell out very
early on, but the move of venue has changed things this year. I can assure
you that the show will be just as wonderful this year as it always is. The
Aggies always bring their own excellent PA and sound engineer Simon Yorath,
who is also sound engineer for the Fairport Spring Tour, so the production
will be as high quality as it always is. Revelation St Mary's is a beautiful
venue and perfect for this type of gentle intimate acoustic performance. If
you've never seen the Aggies before, it's one of the most heartwarming
concerts you'll see, a perfect way to break through the superficiality that
can take over this time of year and will leave you full of good old fashioned
Christmassy fuzziness and cheer. Please see the website for full details.
Thanks so much to all you newbies who've signed up to the emailing list this
past month. I really hope you enjoy coming along and discovering some of the
best live music out there. We only book artists that really excite and
inspire us, so we hope it does the same for you too, no pressure eh Debs?
It's late, I'm talking to myself again, time to go and get some sleep...
See you tomorrow or soon I hope....
