Subject: FOLK AT THE DRUM(FATD) 14 JANU\ARY 2015 - GUEST NIGHT - PORCH SWING BLUES

Good Morning All,

Just the usual reminder of our Guest Night this coming Thursday at FATD, the first of the year!  Two years ago almost to the day, we had a brilliant night with these two wonderful musicians.  I don't think I need to introduce Chris Berry and Dave Ferra but some of you may not know just how long their association with this club is:

Chris was a regular way back in the nineties at "The White Hart Folk Club" (WHFC) as we were then.  He also sang at my  Fiftieth Birthday Party, all right if I have to tell you that was in May 1999!  At that time I was a volunteer Driver on the RH&DR and Chris', then 12 year old, son Scott used to help me clean my engine, he even came out on the train and helped  me keep it clean at station stops!

It was around about that time that I met Dave and his lovely wife Marion when, as well as playing and singing himself, he played in support of Marion who is a superb Fiddler and he even sometimes sang Scottish Folk Songs as well!  Dave was a regular at both WHFC and at Crabble Mill when, my late singing partner,  Alan Sugden, and later, I ran the Folk Nights!  Both Dave and Marion did a spot at Alan's Memorial Service in Dover Methodist Church in 2003 with their first born in a pew in a carrycot!

Floor Spots tomorrow night will be from:

Bill & Val;
Jeff, or if by any chance Roger is well enough, "Men in Hats";
Penny and Glyn;

"Loose Cannon";
Sue Watson;

They will be appearing in that order.

Please don't forget that we start, sharp, at 2000.  Please aim to be there for 1930 so that you have plenty of time to: get your drinks, pay your entrance fee and buy your raffle tickets.

Best regards

David
