Greetings!
It doesn't
seem so long ago that I was writing about the final gig on our
November/December tour, and looking forward to getting home.
Well, here I am again, back in England writing to you about the first
gig of our February and March tour.
All good though. There is something inevitable about feeling a sense
of sadness when you leave home, especially for a three and a half
month stretch. But it is also inevitable that there will be a lot of
great music to be played and a lot of fun to be had with three tours
in total.
Gigspanner, The Feast of Fiddles and the Gigspanner Big Band, as we
have dubbed it, with very special guests Phillip Henry and Hannah
Martin. And on that note, well done to them both of getting throuh 'Dry January'
to raise money for Cancer Research. Still time to sponsor them at http://www.justgiving.com/philandhannah2016/
2016 has go off to a great start for Gigspanner with the album
'Layers of Ages' cropping up in a number of 'Best of' lists. No one
imagined that would be the case, and it wouldn't be a good starting
point to making music anyway. But it's good when it happens.
We have been nominated for a couple of folking.com's
awards, that are open for public voting. One in 'Best Album' for
'Layers of Ages', and one for me in the instrumentalist category.
There are eight
categories, lots of great artists, many of whom I count as personal
friends and have played music with...Marion Fleetwood/TRADarrr,
Hannah and Phil, Chris Leslie, and Megan Henwood who is up for 'Best
Album' too. Brilliant. I wish them all well.

Before any of that though, I have a lovely group of people to welcome
to my Masterclass this coming weekend. I am really looking forward to
that. There are always some great surprises and incredible moments to
experience.
So, hopefully I will be seeing you somewhere.
If you can't make a gig, think about watching the Live Online Streaming
of our concert from The Convent, Stroud on the 24th of March.
Love from Peter x
