Ear to the past, Eye on the future

Sidmouth FolkWeek would like to congratulate all of the nominated artists in the BBC RADIO 2 FOLK AWARDS 2016 NOMINATIONS - announced last night on Mark Radcliffe's Folk Show. The awards ceremony takes place in April at the Royal Albert Hall in London. The Grammys of the folk world, the Folk Awards offer a platform for acknowledging artists making a significant contribution to an ongoing tradition.

We are delighted that our 2016 line-up at Sidmouth features so many of the artists included in the nominations, including our Festival Patrons Show of Hands for BEST ALBUM with their fantastic new release The Long Way Home.

In the BEST GROUP category, we are joined by three of the nominated acts: the mighty Lynched from Dublin (also up for BEST ALBUM), feisty London renegades Stick In The Wheel (also up for BEST TRADITIONAL TRACK with Seven Gypsies) and popular singers The Young'uns. We are also delighted to see both Phillip Henry & Hannah Martin and Kathryn Roberts & Sean Lakeman in the BEST DUO category.

With our eye on the future policy, we are also thrilled that so many of the current and rising crop of fantastic singers and musicians that we book at Sidmouth are getting wider recognition with HORIZON AWARD NOMINATIONS for 2016 bookings Sam Kelly, Lynched and The Rheingans Sisters (who are also up for BEST ORIGINAL TRACK with their beautiful song Mackerel.)

Super Early Bird tickets for the 2016 festival have nearly all gone. Book now at www.sidmouthfolkweek.co.uk
