- Bob Kenward is
temporarily unwell and had to call off his planned appearance at
Frittenden this Sunday night. He's sorry and so are we, but we
hope he recovers really quickly and I promise he'll be
back!
- Happily another
friend is going to play and sing for us - Chris Sadler, a cheery
Irish-style anglo concertina player, singer and guitarist I
first met through sword dancing, of all things. We'll start as
usual at 8pm, and entrance as always is free. Bring a song, a
tune, a story or a stepdance if you'd like to - trad, old
fashioned and entertaining stuff is always welcome!
- Don't forget the new
venture: chorus singing at the friendly West End Tavern in
Marden on the first Wednesday of the month. The first one is on
the 2nd March from 8pm - we'll sing a couple of hours'
worth of chorus songs - folk songs, community songs, songs
we may have learned at school in the 1950s and 60s (if that's
your age!), parodies and even pop songs. We think they
should be untroubled by accompaniment... but should all have
mighty, rollicking choruses or refrains!
- (This does mean that
the song workshops will have cease for the time being, by the
way.)
- Tunes workshoppers -
please add The Ball and Fred Pigeon's No 1 to the tunes list for
the Spring Dance on the 19th March. Also, the promised YouTube of Madame Bonaparte is now online.
The next workshop is on the 9th March
- Please put THE BIG SPRING DANCE with the
Horsmonden tunes workshop band and caller Rachel
Roberts from 8pm on the 19th March in your diaries. We'll also
have our pals Ollie and Malcolm Woods along to help jolly the
band along... Tickets will be £7 and £4 (usual
concessions). Please bring friends and family to
this lovely friendly evening of dancing and
playing, games, songs and laughter! Email me or ring 07985
522734 for tickets.
