Sorry for our
extended break, but isn't it a fact that absence makes the heart
grow fonder.....?
It's exciting news.
Willesden Folk have done a few collaborations in the past and
they've been good so we're doing another. As you'll know
Nest Collective have a far reaching and profuse Folk agenda and
we've taken our specific moment to them to create a series of
old time music events that span the genre: the archaic roots,
residual modes, and emerging forms.
Here's a snapshot of what's
happening over the next few months: Cajun Country Revival, Jerron
Paxton, and Anna and Elizabeth. There'll be more info in due
course, and there's everything you need on the Nest Collective
website right now including ticket links. (http://thenestcollective.co.uk/shows/)
(Please note: Two of these events will be at the 'The
Campfire Club' which is a secret location in the Mile End area of
East London, full details of which will be revealed...)
Cajun Country Revival 7pm
27th May Campfire Club ?8/10
First up, sustaining the spirit of
collaboration we have a collusion between members of some of
the best known traditional bands in America. Cajun
Country Revival brings together Nadine and Sammy
of Foghorn Stringband (well known to Willesden Folk)
with Joel Savoy, fiddle and scion of the legendary
Cajun Savoy Family Band from Louisiana (who we wish we
knew better). Led by Jesse Lege, one of the most admired Cajun
accordionists and vocalists in the world,
CCR explore the shared territories that these two
archetypal forms inhabit.

This will be a special event in an intimate and
beautiful venue: tickets won't last so buy in advance.
